Coders can use this reference sheet to identify common reasons to query for acute myocardial infarctions. It also provides scenarios for each reason. This information was excerpted from information provided by Rhoda Chism, MHL, RN, CCDS, CCS, CPHQ, and Debra Rush, RN, CCDS, during the HCPro webinar, “What the Bleep is Beeping? Getting to the Heart of the Matter: Cardiac Critical Care Review.”

Join expert speaker Courtney Crozier, MA, RHIA, CCS, CDIP, for this webinar as she discusses how to apply autonomous coding. She will dispel common myths about this technology and explain her predictions about how autonomous coding will evolve and increase collaboration among software,
Acid-base disorders are pathologic changes in carbon dioxide partial pressure (pCO2) or serum bicarbonate (HCO3−) that typically produce abnormal arterial pH values.
Acidosis refers to physiologic processes that cause acid accumulation or alkali loss (pH < 7.35)

Patient presents with a chief complaint of thoracic intrinsic spinal cord lesion causing back pain, left lower extremity sciatic-type pain, and foot drop. The patient notes that they were in their usual state of health until mid-April, when they spontaneously developed left foot numbness that was associated with back pain and some radicular left leg pain. Multiple imaging of the spine was obtained which was concerning for probable spinal cord hemorrhage due to a possible cavernoma, prompting neurosurgery evaluation.

Join expert Kimberly Cunningham, CCS, CPC, CCDS-O, for this 60-minute webinar as she discusses clinical documentation and ICD-10-CM coding for SDoH. Cunningham will review the social and financial impact of capturing SDoH, as well as their impact on quality programs, and describe how these factors are reported in ICD-10-CM. She will also outline considerations for documentation review and describe CMS initiatives aimed at increasing SDoH screening.
